Description

The PuroMAG™ Gel Extraction Kit is designed to provide a simple and easy-to-use method for extraction and purification of DNA samples (100 bp − 10 kbp) from agarose gels.

This purification technology is based on dissolving the gel embedded DNA in a buffer solution, followed by nucleic acid binding to silica-coated magnetic beads, which allows for efficient removal of gel residues and other contaminants.

The PuroMAG™ buffer formulations produce highly purified DNA for downstream applications such as PCR, restriction-enzyme digestion, ligation, labeling, or sequencing.

This kit offers various throughput applications using a manual magnetic rack or automated purification systems. The high-throughput protocols have been optimized for Auto-Pure Nucleic Acid Purification systems, but can be adapted for other purification systems (i.e. Kingfisher Flex, Hamilton Microlab STAR, Biomek FX, etc.). Ours PuroMAG™ 8-Hole Mini Magnetic Rack (Cat# MGR-008) and PuroMAG™16-Hole Mini Magnetic Rack (Cat# MGR-016) are perfectly suitable for fast and convenient manual purification.

Features:

  • Rapid purification of DNA fragments from standard agarose gels or polyacrylamide (PAGE) gels
  • Flexible magnetic bead-based protocols (low sample manual purification or high through-put automatic purification) and centrifugation is not required
  • Simple extraction process with no need for phenol or chloroform
  • High quality extracted DNA can be used for a range of downstream applications such as sequencing, ligation, transformation, transfection, Southern blotting, qPCR, or microarray analysis
