Established Applications of Site-Directed Mutagenesis Technology:

This technology is widely used in molecular biology and genetic engineering for:

  1. Studying Protein Function: By altering specific amino acids, researchers can investigate their roles in protein activity, structure, and interactions.
  2. Identifying Enzyme Active Sites: Precise mutations help pinpoint critical residues involved in an enzyme’s catalytic mechanism.
  3. Designing New Proteins: Enables the engineering of proteins with enhanced or novel functions, such as improved stability or altered substrate specificity.
