A recent publication* from Barts Cancer Institute (BCI) highlights how the use of unique molecular identifiers (UMIs) can greatly increase the accuracy of detection of low-quality DNA with much improved allelic quantifications, e.g., for FFPE and ctDNA.
The paper features data generated by a custom hybridisation gene targeting panel from Nonacus1. Testing this panel on FFPE and FF samples from follicular lymphoma biopsies found that a large number (>50-100) consensus sequences in FFPE samples had PCR duplicate reads.
