Description

Streptavidin Magnetic Nanoparticles, with Optional Fluorescent and Magnetic Properties

These streptavidin magnetic nanoparticles come with the option to customize both magnetic properties and fluorescent labels. Our single-layer poly (lactic-co-glycolic acid) (PLGA) nanoparticles form nanostructures with a hydrophobic core encapsulated within a hydrophilic shell. The Streptavidin protein is covalently conjugated to the surface of the PLGA nanoparticles, providing a robust platform for bioconjugation. Dye molecules and magnetic nanoparticles are encapsulated within the hydrophobic core, providing both fluorescent and magnetic functionality.

The PLGA polymer is made with an FDA-approved biocompatible and biodegradable material. This versatile system allows for the easy loading of antibodies, proteins, and small molecules through the strong Streptavidin-Biotin interaction. It also offers a high degree of monodispersity and the option to be pulled down by an applied magnetic force.

LGA surface contains COOH groups that can be used for EDC/NHS based bioconjugation. Optional surface modifications include methoxy PEG (improves in vivo blood half-life) and PEG-Azide (can be used to covalently attach biomolecules by click chemistry).

Features

  • Made with FDA approved biocompatible and biodegradable PLGA polymer.
  • Easy loading of antibodies, proteins, and small molecules through Streptavidin – Biotin interaction.
  • High degree of monodispersity.
  • (Optional) Can be pulled down by application of magnetic force.
  • (Optional) Labeled with a fluorescent dye.

This technology has three established applications:

  1. In vitro and in vivo delivery of proteins and small molecules: The nanoparticles serve as effective carriers, protecting therapeutic agents and facilitating targeted delivery.
  2. Magnetic cell pulldown and flow cytometry analysis: The magnetic property allows for the isolation of specific cells, while the fluorescent label enables detailed analysis.
  3. Dual fluorescence and MRI imaging: The combined fluorescent and magnetic properties allow for a powerful dual-mode imaging approach for both in vitro and in vivo studies.
